Robert Lee Moeller, 65, of Carmel, died October 4, 2012. With love and support of his family and friends, Bob defied the odds to survive cancer for over three years. He never lost his positive attitude, faith, generosity, or sense of humor. Robert was born to the late Lola and Lovell Moeller in Flint, Michigan on April 28, 1947. He grew up in Fremont, Indiana, where he played all sports and graduated valedictorian of his high school class. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Butler University. While at Butler, Bob played both football and basketball for Tony Hinkle. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and Utes Honorary. He loved Butler and especially enjoyed watching the Butler Bulldogs play basketball. Bob established his career in the chemical business, working in sales and management for many years for a division of W.R. Grace. He was the founder and CEO of Chemical Systems, Inc. of Indianapolis (est. 1993). Robert’s hobbies included snow skiing and golf. However, his greatest passion was boating with his wife, Carol, and their family and friends. He was a golf member of the Bridgewater Club, a member of the Carmel United Methodist Church, a coach for many years with Carmel Dads’ Club, and also served as a Boy Scout leader. Robert’s family meant everything to him. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carol (King); sons, Michael (Emily) and Justin Moeller; grandchildren, Noah and Claire; sister, Margaret Kanakis; and brothers, Jerry (Carolyn) Moeller and David Moeller. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of St. Vincent Cancer Care and St. Vincent Hospice for their kindness and care of Robert. Services will be held on Saturday, October 13 at 12:30 p.m. in Carmel United Methodist Church, 621 S. Rangeline Rd., with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until noon. Marshall Sellers says
Truly a very sharp individual who caught many of the passes I threw on that Fremont Eagle Football team back in high school. As his life unfolded, it is obvious he caught many more as accomplishments in living. Three of us called all the plays in the huddle. He was one as he always had a perception of what the defense was going to do, not what they did. Regrets to the family for Robert was a rare person who had a perception of things long before they happened.
Noah Moeller says
Robert was a great man.
